I have a 2008 S5 which has 2 AMI cables in the glove box: one for a USB cable and the other for an old iPod connection ( large flat connector). I use my iPod in it using the latter but it would be good to use my iPhone 5 so I could listen to sound cloud and the like while driving. Does anyone know how I would go about doing this? I tried connecting the USB charger cable that came with my iPhone to the AMI USB connector but I get a message saying either the cable or the device isn't compatible with the interface. Also, being an '08, the Bluetooth connectivity doesn't allow music playback.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Get a 30pin to lightning adapter for the iPod lead?
Eta. Make sure it's a decent one as cheap ones often only provide charging as they don't contain a DAC to convert the sound to the analog pins on the old connector.

As above, buy the genuine Apple converter - just make sure you buy the one with a fly lead, as the brick adaptor won't fit most iphone 5's with a case fitted. Guess how I know that.....

If you want audio over bluetooth instead you need a tune2air plug in widget from Amazon - it fits the 40 pin Apple connector and allows playback and control over MMI. Doesn't allow you to control Spotify if that's what you're after
