eBay collection vs courier...
Discussion
I listed a bike, it said collection only. Auction has just ended and winning bidder has contacted me for address details and times so he can arrange a collection by courier. Guy has the same surname but not forename as the registered eBay account.
I've said ok but only if he accepts full liability and provides positive feedback prior to collection.
Would you allow it to be collected if faced with the same circumstances?
If I "walk away" csn he negative feedback me (I suspect yes)?
Anyone know why "collection only" might have appeared to this person to be spelt "courier is fine"
Thanks.

If paying by paypal YOU need to be able to confirm that you posted the item to the address or else you risk a claim for non-delivery with no proof that the courier actually delivered it.
If the courier is bringing cash then all well and good. If not then tell them that you will arrange the courier and send to the registered paypal address (they should be able to give you the courier details).
Personally I would run a mile.

I once let someone arrange their own courier absolute PITA never again. Not as bad as the ass hole from Greece who bid on a domestic UK sale won, complained loads at postage costs when I calculated them and beg me to find a better price when I do after a morning pissing about the ass hole decades he lost his credit card linked to paypal so can't make payment. No longer am I humouring any prat that can't read the terms of sale.
I've had this a couple of times with a bike and then with Car Wheels, I probably wouldn't mind so much if they dropped a message to ask beforehand but they don't.
With the bike I ended up getting the buyer to buy and supply all packaging materials incl box (all sent to my address) then I packaged it for the courier (organised by the purchaser) to collect. Its not a difficult thing to package but what they don't appreciate is the amount of inconvenience it causes especially as its not something you can really take to work for collection away from home...
After the above, Collection only means exactly that on my items.
