Buying a manual DB9
Discussion
Hi - just saying hello.
Previously owned a 4.3 vantage roadster (manual) and regret selling it 3yrs ago. Scratched the 911 itch with my current car, 911 997 GTS and now returning to AM with a MY09, manual DB9 coupe with sports pack.
The 997 is a fabulous car, great engineering, fast, capable and surprisingly practical - I just haven't grown to love it.
Chose the DB9 for its V12 engine and ability to carry 2 cat baskets (it can, I have tried it!).
Really hope I will love it !
Think the car is quite rare in this spec. and model year. Anyone else on the forum got one?
Pictures to follow when I pick car up.

I think so too! On the Roll Call there are only 5 manual hard top and 4 soft top DB9s.I have a manual MY08 Volante with BR's chassis upgrades and it's great.
Two kids can be substituted for the cats if you really need to but one needs to be VERY little and sit crossed legged!

Thanks for the replies, sounds like I made a good choice.
Speculatore - your car looks amazing, I have read about your 'few' enhancements
Just to be clear, mine is an 08 reg but with the 09 MY facelifts, different centre console, strange glass key etc!
First big trip should be the annual pilgrimage to Le Mans 24hr, a chance to get to know the car - and see how much camping stuff it can take !

Of course as an 09MY, it comes with a slightly higher power engine tooSpeculatore - your car looks amazing, I have read about your 'few' enhancements

It's a relatively rare car anyway but as a post-facelift model, I may be corrected but I think that makes it significantly rarer again - I suspect very few cars were sold with manual
I drove a lot of miles in what was pretty much the first manual DB9 and loved it although it's certainly not for everyone - congrats on a great purchase

Hi Toffee,
Not sure how you find yours when cold but I thought the gear change in 1st and 2nd was a bit clunky and difficult to get in to gear. The first thing I did was change to a lightweight Flywheel and Twinplate clutch. It transformed the car and now much more fun to drive.
I thought all V12s came with twin plate clutches from new, and that this is the improvement made to the V8 Vantage when it comes time to change out the clutch? Not sure how you find yours when cold but I thought the gear change in 1st and 2nd was a bit clunky and difficult to get in to gear.
