Home charging - Zoe & Leaf
Discussion
Having bought (well bargain PCP'd) a nice Zoe for Mrs A in January, I'm now in the process of dumping the company car & securing a cheaply PCP'd Leaf for me to use as commuter vehicle, leaving spare allowance to spend on Porsche 996 with chocolate engine, but that's a whole other thread!
So we had a free BG 32kwh home charging unit install for the Zoe, but there is no such freebie with the Leaf, strangely, so I was wondering if I could simply buy a lead off that there t'internet that would convert the Zoe type connector to a Type 2 connector for the Leaf & thus use the same charge point?
All ideas very welcome!
Cheers

I don't have any experience of the different types of connectors but it looks like the Leaf uses the Type 1 and the Zoe the Type 2. It does look as if you can get leads to convert them

May I ask why you can't get the second charger? There’s still the government subsidy, its just less than it was 75% of the cost to be precise, so the cost to you would be £250 approx. Rather than spending over £100 on an adaptor, wouldn’t it be better to get yourself the second charger? I ask as I have got two of them and there wasn’t an issue with the installer or government subsidies.appletonn said:

I would check again - we have a nice 32a Leaf charger from Rolec to complement the 16a Zoe charger - both free Also I decided on a socket and cable not a tethered type 1 for versatility ie both cars can charge on both chargers - I needed a T1 to T2 cable at £120

Well if I can charge the car on rapids to & from work, then I'm aiming to only need to charge at home on te odd occasion, hence my reluctance to shell out £250 on another charger.Gassing Station | EV and Alternative Fuels | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
