Mk6 fiesta Zetec s tip
Discussion
Soo.. I've bought a mk6 fiesta Zetec s for my first car, turn 17 in October so got some time to make it look/perform a bit better. Already got windows tinted, fitted a Sportex exhaust and got st side skirts just need painting.
Anyone recommend doing anything to them? Is there a big difference in a remap?

Mate, you must be minted if you're going to insure a modified zetec s at 17!?Anyone recommend doing anything to them? Is there a big difference in a remap?
Some guy at the call centre is going to on a biiig commission from you!
If you can afford the insurance on a modified Zetec S with no license, then I'd suggest using that money to buy something a bit better!
If you're going to modify a first car, and you're not minted (or your dad isn't), then always good suspension, tyres and brakes. Maybe a small PH sticker too, but no more.

I will echo the "return it to standard" crowd - and I'm someone that tinkers with cars endlessly.
However... you're young, and you might have an itch to do something to your car, either to learn, or to make it better, or because it's better than watching s
t telly.
So, things you can do -
Detailing/valeting - incredibly satisfying, and will make your car look a lot better than putting window tints on it.
Audio - are you into your music? Why not spend some time putting in a proper audio install - this doesn't mean just throwing money at a bunch of subs from Halfords. Take your time, do your research, there's plenty of forums and info out there on how to get a fantastic result.
Driving - learn to service your car - everything from oil changes to brake bleeding. Get a good matching set of tyres on your car, replace the filters and brake pads/discs, windscreen wipers. You can even adjust your tracking/set up your alignment to make sure it's in spec, using little more than string.
Then spend some money on taking your pride and joy on a track day. The Zetec S is a sublime keen little puppy of a car, and you'll get immense satisfaction from ragging it around a track for less than you'll pay for someone to make your windows ugly.

I dont get it.
Seriously.
Just a few weeks ago I was reading a thread about how modified cars are slowly disappearing, and that young lads aren't interested in modifying cars anymore. Everyone was complaining that they're all buying Corsas on finance and not experimenting anymore. That car enthusiast youngsters wouldn't be around much longer with costs and so on.
A young lad starts a post, asking about modifying his car and everyone shuts him down and tells him to buy something else!
Fair enough a MK6 ZS hardly sets the world on fire but it's a great little warm hatch, and is much more interesting than most young lads can afford.
It's not as if he's putting a F&F bodykit on, or 20" chrome rims is it? It's a pair of OEM skirts, some window tints and a fruity backbox. He hasn't said that he isn't going to declare mods has he? So no problem there either.
(FWIW, I had tints, coilovers and an exhaust on my first car, all declared, cost me £50 extra to insure.)
