As previously mentioned, it's a VW-Porsche 914. The pic' is of the flat four 2.0litre version. They came in 1.7, 1.8, 2.0 flat fours + the Porsche badged 914/6 2.0litre. Plus some additional sports models and even a 914/8 [!] Brilliant little cars, superb chassis and handling but very under powered. Many an interestingly converted car out there with 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, 2.7, 3.0 and 3.2 911 engines which is what Porsche should have done in developing the car. I had an Orange 914, a good friend a Saturn Yellow one some years ago; they were great fun.

I was told once that when originally released, it did rather too well against the 911 in a few competitions and being that it was not originally intended to be a proper Porsche, it was decided not to push it / support further development - not sure how true that is?

I have never been a much of a Porsche fan but this is one model I quite fancy.
