Anyone know this Vantage ?
Discussion
Hi All
Im looking to get to get a Vantage coupe, I have looked at 2 so far one was in beautiful condition with only 20k Miles but was over budget, the 2nd was not as fresh but was 4K cheaper with double the miles. I have now seen this car, the miles are more than i would of liked but it is 2nd favourite colour combination with the sliver stitching. However it does seem very cheap and I'm wondering if its to good to be true. Does anyone know this car or give any kind of option on the price ?

Looks like a pretty good car for the price to me. Mileage is slightly high, but probably just over average for that age. The advert is a bit lacking in detail, I'd want to know more about the service history (it is full, but is it dealer or indy or just any old place?), I'd also want to know what options it has (heated screen, seats, upgrade sound etc). If all those questions came back with the right answers then it looks like a good deal I think.

"Mileage is slightly high" ?? 52k in 8 years? That's only 6,500 miles per annum...
I remember the stupid look I gave a TVR dealer years ago when he suggested 43,000 miles was 'high mileage' for a beefy V8 pushing a crisp packet of a car. Honestly!Ok I don't have my buying hat (so maybe some hypocrisy) but Aston tested the V12 engine (in my example) to destruction in conditions including (IRC) 7000 rpm for 100 hours and rejected the design if they didn't do at least 150,000 miles overall.
Just saying...

I don't disagree with this, and undoubtedly most of these motors will probably outlast their owners, however there is no point trying to fight the market. If you look on autotrader there are a couple of higher mileage cars (60-80k miles) that have been on there for months, so there is obviously some sort of psychological effect on buyers which even a lower price isn't counteracting. Whilst 50k isn't particularly high, if the new owner was someone who wanted to drive it a lot then they may struggle to sell it when they come to put it on the market with 70k miles on in a few years time. Better to get one with 30-40k on it if possible, and there are plenty of cars out there with this sort of mileage which don't tend to be that much more expensive. Just my thoughts anyway. Mine is certainly not a garage queen and I'm planning on putting plenty of miles on it this summer, but I was lucky enough to find one with low miles when I bought it.Ok I don't have my buying hat (so maybe some hypocrisy) but Aston tested the V12 engine (in my example) to destruction in conditions including (IRC) 7000 rpm for 100 hours and rejected the design if they didn't do at least 150,000 miles overall.

'Plenty of cars out there.'
That is the reason for buyers being a little wary, of the higher mileage Astons.
The majority appear to be treasured hobby cars, which is wonderful for pre-owned buyers.
