'king Lead

After 9 years of ownership the Chim failed to proceed for the first time this morning.

Just leaving a village and began to gently accelerate, or rather try to accelerate, and no power. Down a gear, no power, smoke from exhaust.

Coasted into a farm entrance gate on the country road and lifted the bonnet.

After looking around for a few minutes I found the problem. The king lead tower has broken off the dizzy cap. Never seen anything like it. I can only assume that the king lead wasn't fully pushed home and was arcing (the lead copper end was black) and the heat destroyed the plastic ( if that's what the caps are made of).

Called boss (only 2 miles from work) he collected new cap from Parkers and delivered it to me - replaced and on way 30 mins later.

I would normally carry a spare dizzy cap in the boot but I didn't have one with me. Why? When in Italy last year the new cap I had fitted started to arc causing a misfire so I replaced the new with the previous cap I had left in the boot as back up.

I'll try and upload a pic of the cap when I get home this evening.

Need to source a new set of leads as well - Want to go Bosch standard parts (not Magnecor etc) - any recommendatiosn as I'm not finding any.

I ordered a set of leads via ebay from Powerspark £20.00 delivered ok so far they relaced a set of Magnecor ones, when one had failed due to a plug boot coming into contact with Manifold(understandble) due to a rotating extender
