I'm booked in (5th May), anyone else going? biggrin
They have the new M3/M4 there and you can drive your own car around the track as well, should be good fun!

I'm going. I've just taken delivery of my M4 so trying to get it run in before then.

Nice, see you guys there. I'll be in an Interlagos blue E60 M5.

IIRC was it you who had 2 pipes wrapped by Paul the exhaust wrapper guy on ebay? If so I'd love to hear it!

It says in small print on the back of the invite that driving licence along with proof of track day insurance must be shown.

I thought it was just personal cover required i.e. for death, medical expenses etc?
Or at least that's my understanding - when I called them up to ask about it they said I could arrange insurance for my own car if I wanted to but didn't mention anything about their cars...

And yes, both parts of the driving licence!

You maybe right, I'm just reading the small print on the back of the envelope that the VIP card came in.

I've done about 30 or so track days over the past 15 years and never bothered with insurance but then all my cars were worth under 10K at the time. I've insured my M5 for the day at £120 which I'm quite happy paying. Not done any track days for 2 yrs so I'm a bit rusty ! I just find the M5 too big and heavy to drive like my old M3 but it may surprise me.

Have you been on track with yours yet, if so what did you think for a big heavy car ?

I've done one track day (well tourist driving day) at the Ring:

Didn't think it was too heavy at all, changed direction when I wanted it to and brakes were adequate. But then that's been my one and only track day so can't really compare smile

Well that was a really entertaining day. Didn't get to drive any of the new M3/4/5's so it was pretty much a track day in your own car with some passenger laps. But the F10 M5 in the hands of a racing driver is a serious beast...

My tyres were already shot before the event which probably wasn't a good idea... wink

Had the little excursion just before lunch and kind of lost all confidence after that so my quickest lap of just over 1 min was actually in the morning when it was still a bit damp:

Some pics, there were mostly M3's there but managed to get a group shot of the E60s biggrin

Yes it was a good day out. Didn't get to drive mine in on time so it was just lifts with people and hot laps.

Great photos of the E60's.

Just watched those 2 videos, bit of a brown trouser moment exiting clarke curve I onto the straight when you hit that water , could have been nasty.
The only time I managed to pass you on the track was when you were facing me after spinning at Surtees !

I've been looking at prices of the Michelin pilot super sports which I think I'll go for next if I decide to do a few more track days in the M5. Quite surprised at how good it felt on the track for a big car.

Have you had a go at the scuff from the cone on the front bumper yet ?

Simon

Yeah that first one was the biggest brown trouser moment of all, more so than the actual spin because the wall was very close!

Haven't cleaned the car at all yet, but it does look like smart repair time frown

How did you guys find the E60 around Brands?
Did the breaks cope well?

I've taken mine only to the Ring and it was great there. It's suited to a big open track like the Ring.

Does exhaust wrapping change the sound of the car?
