Speedo converter location

Under a Chimaera dash there should be some unit that converts the speedo sensor signal into 2 outputs, one for the speedo itself and the other one for the ECU. Have been searching for it, but can't find it. Can anyone tell me where it should be located?
A photo of what I should look for in the rat's nest would also be great.
It would be greatly appreciated if anyone can tell how the wiring is routed, so I can shield the wiring where necessary.
My car has recently been recarpeted, and I'd like to avoid unnecesary damage.

Its a standard maplin electronics black box about 2.5" x 1.5" x 1.5" and has a typed white lable on it saying speedo calibration unit. It has a large connector at one end, and sits nestled in the main loom that runs behind the dashboard, between the drives side, and instrument panel. You dont need to disturb any carpet, but you need nifty hands to undo the M6 nuts that hold to top of the dash panel down- access is awkward.

Thanks a lot! Already have the dash top off, I suppose mine won't be labeled, because i would have noticed then.

Sorry- boo boo- its between the passenger side and the instruments.
