Sony do an infra red system (cordless phones and wi/fi will not interfere with it):

Sony Dav FR-10W

It will cost you some coin, however. About $1kUS

Even with wireless speakers, you'll still need wires. They have to get their power from somewhere.

Another option is flat cable, You can lay that under the carpet/floor

I ran cable throuh through the ceiling space but I understand that might be a bit hardcore for some

Batteries?
Even more of a pain to go around changing them every 5 mins, though.
At least with mains powered wireless units, the cable runs are shorter and not all ending up in one spot.

Fact: wires can be hidden

Fact: wireless speakers will sound shit

Fact: they will also be expensive

Wireless speakers are great for garden parties etc, but wouldn't want them as a permanent sound source...

ah - I only need them in addition to my other speakers so I can hear my music in the kitchen with the blimmin loud extractor fan on.
Not too fussed about quality, really - not to accompany my cooking!
