there are so many types available at mytyres.co.uk ....

All these are RE040s 225/45 R17...

91W PRICE: 104.50

91Y BW 105.50

90W 106.80

91Y 106.80

94XL BW 110.70

I know that

V=ZR=149mph
W=168mph
Y=186

BW bead width...relevance??

the number signifies loading, whatecver that means!!!

Current original tyres dont specify ...only say re040 r17

Which to buy for my 120bhp S2?

cheers

have a look on the lotus website as there is a tech info on tyres which states a code number for the tyres
i think the tyres are:-

175/55/17 v cfe
225/45/17 v dck

i know this doesn't really help with the numbers you've listed

Just had a look at mine (111R) - they're stamped:

90W on the back
80W on the fronts

Code's next to the bead.

I'm not dead certain but if the number signifies loading then the tires might sport a different code than those fitted to the 111R as there is fair weight difference.

I was thinking that if it's stamped on mine then it's probably stamped K-Serious's tyres also - just not spotted it - it's stamped some way from the size code.

Should have checked mine first time around but they are stamped 80V and 90V (front and back respectively) on my S2 ST. I think my tires have been on since new, I suppose the 111R tires will good for 150mph.

Tyres might be good for 150mph. Not sure about the driver though.

Have you also tried www.blackcircles.com - they are usually good value.

You can only get the RE040 for 175/55 R16
What size do you have on the front wheels?

I have just fitted BF Goodrich G force profilers the same sizes as the Advan ... LTS (195 and 225). The cost from Micheldever was £299 including a wheel wash with the premier service.

SO far the Tyres are a great improvement.

But then I am only comparing to P Zero.

Some more speed ratings here:
www.tst-tyres.co.uk/info.htm
(though I could not find BW!! - it could be something to do with the construction method)

Loading Indices listed here:
www.trailerwarehouse.co.uk/smmt/trailer_towing_law/trailer/load_index.htm

Assuming your car weighs approx. 900kg (say 1100kg with 2 hefty occupants). I would guess that you just divide that by the 4 tyres, which would give you anything with a Load index of 64 and above (this is just speculation using a bit of common sense.... someone else might be able to point out any errors in my assumption).
