Boxster Roof 'sticking out' at sides when closed
Discussion
Ive noticed recently when i put the roof down on my boxster its 'sticks out' in front of the plastic to the rear of the window on box sides (see below image), this can be fixed by when the roofs in the 75% closed position to just tuck it in with your hands before closing, but this is just a work around and dosnt address the route issue.
Any ideas what / why this is and how to remedy it ?

I had the same issue. While it can be the cable tension for the cable that sits in the roof channel it can also be the elastic tensioners (one each side)which you can see if you unclip the headlining immediately behind you head. These pull the edges of the hood towards the middle of the car a little so that they drop into the channel when the roof goes up. They do commonly stretch or perish. If they have stretched you can tighten them by undoing the screw that attaches each side to the frame and moving along one hole - bit like a belt. It is a pain to get a screw driver to ( and uses a star head bit) but I managed it without taking the headliner out completely. Mine had completely perished so I sewed some shop bought elastic to the places where the knackered ones started (not pretty but stitches have held) and punched some new adjustment holes. A trimmer should be able to do it quite cheaply but I gave up trying to find someone around here.
There is an elastic with what looks like button holes down the centre. Follow it back to where it is screwed to. And undo the screw and move it down one hole. That should sort it for a while. Sometimes the elastic loses its elasticity and you have to replace it.
Don't leave it to long. You will end up braking the cable or wearing hole in the plastic piping
I do these all the time.
