Possibly in bad taste, but relevant.
The foreign office have agreed to issue death certificates for anyone missing following the asian disaster. Providing you have not left a paper trail (credit cards etc) since then, now would seem to be the ideal opportunity.

I wonder how many bad boys have already done this?

I wondered that. I imagine there are a number of crims settling into a hassle free retirement.

The certificates will be issued via the police, who will want to see evidence of travel to the affected area of the indian ocean rim. So not that easy to fake I guess.

Would they not need a paper trail taking them into the area in the first place though ?

Not in very good taste I know but I wouldn't be massively surprised to find out that not all of the victims of Sept 11th actually died. In financial trouble and suddenly all of you bussiness records are wiped out and you simply drop off the planet.

Apparently in Haiti they "film" death certificates. Lay still for 2 mins and voila...

Anybody remember reggie's new name when he worked on the pig farm?

Edited to add: Where Dave from the Winchester Club is his boss.

Grouch.

Faking an accident is pretty difficult and could end up resulting in your genuine death.

I suppose the best thing to do would be to 'disappear' and wait for the local news to dig up a body somewhere - there will be an investigation into your disappearence and the papers will have campaigns to find you (change your appearence and keep it that way - dyed hair, a beard, different clothing style, learn a new accent etc). As soon as there's been a murder everyone will think the body's yours. When it turns out it isn't everyone will feel depressed and assume you'll never be found.

Take a few driving lessons as your 'new' self and re-take your test. The driving licence is the most obvious form of identification you can have on you at any one time - who walks around with their passport or birth certificate, exactly? - the point is that it's the best way to 'officially' become someone else.

As for getting in and out of the country, it's best to have a biggish yacht. Getting around by light aircraft is tricky and requires lessons, but a boat can be kept out of sight and used quite sneakily. Keep a cheap car in a lockup in France (your 'new' driving licence will help you to insure it, I'm sure) so you can get around once you're on the continent. The good thing about Europe is that it's attatched to Asia, Russia and so on - the majority of the world, really. You can get into Africa through Gibraltar with pretty much no questions asked and into the Americas via Vladivostok and Alaska - not much border control there. In short, if you're travelling, stay away from planes and passport control, stick to trains, boats and cars, and if you're driving into another country, plan a route that'll take you in via a back road, rather than a border control.

And there you go

You'll need a new identity before you "disapear", for this you'll need a birth certificate, there is a way of doing this, but the loophole will beclosed as all old files are being transferred onto computer gradually, best bet is to infiltrate a drug or crime syndicate, turn into a grass and the govt will help you out!!
