944 New Camshaft

my poor old lux has just been taken to my garage to confirm if the camshaft does actually need to be changed. so what I wondered is all those 944 owners out there - if indeed a replacement is in order:

1)best place to buy a new one from (general fast road)?

2)anything else worth changing/checking for - bearing in mind that money is a bit of an object

Pleanty of used ones available cheaply, I would guess for around £100 a pop.

I would not bother looking for alternative grinds as I doubt that they would be effective on their own without further modifications.
