As I'm taking delivery of my wedge with 2 very worn front seats soon, am looking at options to replace these.

Have had a look at MGF or RX8 seats which appearently would fit, fairly easy to find these and not that expensive.

However also considering fitting 2 bucket seats, since there's no seatbelts in the back of a 2+2, not planning on using these seats, and as I want the car for sheer driving fun, good support is always welcome. Understand getting in & out might be slightly more difficult, but would consider a removable steering wheel if that helps. Would also have the benefit that seats can always be fitted in another (track)car later on

Was looking at http://www.sportseats4u.co.uk/road-car-racing-buck...
And interested in:
Sparco Sprint
Cobra Monaco
OMP TR-S
Sabelt GT-090
Corbeau Forza
...

Don't really know all the brands in there, do understand that some (like Auto-Style) make cheap/low quality copies, so prefer to stick with the well-known brands.

So could anyone advise:
1/ Will these seats fit a FHC wedge?
2/ Will they install easily on off-the-shelf frames, or is a custome subframe always needed?
3/ Any quality differences between them?
4/ Experiences with buckets and how practical are they?

Grts, Pieter

this is very popular with the Chim group and pretty good value / ability to colour code to your car in vinyl or leather if you've the dosh = http://www.intatrimtelford.co.uk/index.php?page=sh...

My 280i currently has bucket seats in, can't comment on how well they hold you in place for driving as the car isn't currently road legal but they make it one hell of a job getting out of the car, the sides are quite high on mine and with the car being so low there's alot of contortion needed.

Anything with sides that slope off towards the front would be fine though I imagine so you can swing your leg across easier on the way out.

On the other hand I currently daily an mgf and am certainly considering the seats from one as an option, the support isn't amazing but it's not terrible either and they're fairly comfortable and as you say rather cheap (cloth seats, can't comment on the leather)

worth checking the widths of those seats compared to the originals and what space is available.

I have an S1 and could only get Cobra Classic seat in - effin expensive, so went the Elise seat route until I need an FIA standard competition seat.

Likewise I like the look and location of the originals but could do with a bit more padding in the lumber area. When they are eventually up for re-upholstery I'll get it sorted. They're fine for an hour or two but anything longer then they give me a backache. Ofcourse might be that I'm getting older and falling apart?

Seats and carpets are next on the list for me. I think I'll do the carpets my self, but get the seats re- trimmed. I'm sure there are better replacement seats out there, but I like to keep the old girl original, so will be asking the trimmer to put a bit more padding in the lumbar area.
