rib pains... how long to recovery and what exercise?
Discussion
About 3 weeks ago I tripped and fell into a wooden frame on RHS upper ribs below pectoral muscle... Got a bruise and no pain, then 4 days later I wake up and have rib pain on RHS exactly where the impact was.
2 weeks later its an ache when I put pressure through might right arm (getting out of chair) and twisting, so I suspect that I have torn or sprained the intercostal muscles there.
Great... So for the past 3 weeks I have stayed off the swimming and put on 2kg... not good.
I tried a light swimming session last night, it only hurt during turns or if I did an award movement during breast stroke and it doesnt ache that much more today, however I don't want to aggravate it.
What exercise can I do? I have read it takes from 4 weeks to 6 months to truly recover from it and I am not going to sit here and get fat because I have an excuse not to train... I need to train regularly otherwise I lose the ability to walk without a limp, my ankle is held together with a plate and 10 pins and it needs to be treated to swimming several times a week to keep mobility.
Dr says that it looks like bruising and no point going for x-ray as its a rib, bugger all they can do with it, plus they will not really see any fractures due to 14 years of hockey and I don't have many ribs that are not cracked in some way.
