Watch Repair Tudor Monarch/Rolex
Discussion
Where can I get my Tudor Monarch Repaired in the north west. Reputable Repairer. Been quoted by Rolex but they say I need £475 for a new bracelet on top of the service. I don't need a new bracelet, its consummate with age etc. etc. just want a service and new winder. seen a few sites online but need to know if they are genuine.. Thanks in advance. If I have to pay nearly 1k for repair I may as well go and get a new watch...
All solved. Rolex will repair and service the watch without the bracelet. So long as I don't hold them responsible for any damage that may occur to the watch if the bracelet fails.... Hurrah.. However I have now seen a very nice Cartier that I am also considering as a second watch...

Its an ETA movement so why get overpriced Rolex to service it ?.........any good independent watch repairer could do it

Service papers from the manufacturer? Case refinishing quality? 2 year manufacturers guarantee?Yeah, listen to Gouldy, just stick it into Timpsons or a repairer who services fakes as well.

I once gave it to a trusted watch repairer in an upmarket Cheshire town Yeah, listen to Gouldy, just stick it into Timpsons or a repairer who services fakes as well.

it came back and a few weeks later the crown broke and then it got water in.. Hence why I now send it to Rolex. Was a bit annoyed as they wanted to make me pay another £475 for a new bracelet.... just because the old one was scratched and worn, if I have to pay that on top of the service circa £400 I may as well buy one of the new Tudors which kind of defeats the object... Also the new one has much less gold in the bracelet and case

It also needed a new crown fitting, so not just a service..

I have no problem paying a good amount for an exceptional service, but when there are a large number of excellent watchmakers who can deal with the issues within a week for half the price (and do it properly, first time around), I have to question the value of using Rolex.
My watches (as you know, you sold me some of them!) tend to be older models, without papers/box/provenance, so the "value" of maintaining a full Rolex service history is of negligible value in any case, but I believe in going where I get the best service, not just the lowest price.

In all truthfulness, I'd be happy to send watches to Rolex, but for the fact that they took three attempts to get my wife's Datejust to run properly, which coverd a period of nearly five months. Deeply unimpressive service, and remarkably expensive to boot.

This echoes my experience with Rolex. I've had to send two watches back to them, one four times, to sort out things that should have been sorted at the service performed by them immediately before. You'd think that they could change a crystal and get it straight, but apparently not. The refinishing they do is a bit hit and miss too. I had to return one and ask they to return it to the original look, as opposed to the attractive though non-original all-over matching brushed look that they put on it at service.
Recognising the OP is sorted, but for the benefit of others...
I recently used Duncan at Genesis after googling various fora. This was after poor service from the lvmh main service centre who'd seen my Zenith El primero a couple of times before. He was excellent in terms of comms, updates, options and turnaround. Highly recommended.
