Emergency lesson on how to inspect RX8 before purchase

Hi all,

Bit of background - I'm 21 and I've been driving a 2004 VW Polo for 2 years. I'm convinced that I want to replace it with a Mazda RX-8 1.3 PZ and have agreed to view one this weekend.

Here's the catch - I have no idea how to conduct a thorough inspection of the car once I'm there. My current car was given to me and I'm therefore not clued up on how to check a car for a faults before buying it. I don't really want to travel ~100miles just to check for flat tires haha.

If there are any common mechanical issues that RX8s tend to experience which I could check for during the viewing, please let me know. Any tips on what sort of procedure to follow whilst inspecting it would be much appreciated.

Given what you've said in your post I'd suggest spending some time on one of the RX8 forums learning as much as you can. A few easy tests you can perform / questions you should ask when inspecting any RX8.
