Hi people

Anyone ever had any issues with diff main bearing on audi a4?

My 2010 A4 (6speed manual), started to encounter a whining notice under load recently.
The noice was consistent in every gear and I initial thought it was a wheel bearing.
Took the car to my local independant garage and after road testing, they suggest the same verdict!
The clutch and dual mass was only replaced at 50k miles, so was ruled out straight away!

They replaced the ns front wheel bearing, but the noise is still present.
The Garage has taken the car back and stripped the front back to check cv joints, driveshafts and engine mounts.
All of these seemed fine, however, they did find a small amount of movement on the drivers side driveshaft into the diff main bearing!!! They are not 100% that this is causing the problem and have suggested that I take the car to their transmissions company for another opinion.

Can the main diff bearing be changed without completely stripping the box?
Any ideas on the cost if this was the issue.

The garage has suggested I keep driving, as the gears and general driving still feel fine, other than this sound!
They suggested giving it another 3 months/5,000 miles and will check the movement again!

Car is only 5 years old and with only 85k on the clock, mostly motorway miles!!!
Had new cambelt, rip belt, discs/pads, new tyres and clutch all fitted in last 18 months, so gutted something else has now cropped up!!!

Advise would be good!!
