Hi guys,

I've just got a new PC (Win XP) and need to transfer some files from my old PC which currently has WIN98se installed.

I have borrowed an external USB Hard drive - Win98 is asking for a driver, and the thing is the guy who I've borrowed the drive off is away for a few days.

Not sure of the make of HDD - does anyone know where I can get a driver from to allow me to use the drive on my old PC.

Cheers

Chris

It's not the HDD that's important, more so the driver for the USB Mass Storage Device. Try googling for one.

You may have a problem if the external housing is USB2 - I seem to remember having a difficulty getting one of these to work on a 98SE laptop I have at home (couldn't find USB2 drivers for Win98).

If you can't get the PC to recognise the external drive, why not just whip the HDD out of the enclosure and plug it in to one of the spare IDE connectors inside your PC.

Might not be the easiest solution, but it is a solution if the drivers are not readily available.
