2nd Year of Chimaera ownership :)

Well, my chim sailed through its mot today with no advisory's and according to the mot last year i did 2261 miles !
The car makes me smile every time i look at it, and i grin from ear to ear every time i drive it So i'm looking forward to this summers motoring !
If you're on these forums because you're thinking of buying one, just do it...

What amazes me is that you give the car so much praise(Understandable)but put so little miles on it

I have same feeling about mine as you describe but because I enjoy driving it so much I keep piling miles on. An intended journey of 8-10 miles will nearly always end up being 50 because I just want to keep driving

Did just over 7k in my 1st year all being just pleasure drives(Not using it to go to work) and this second year might end up slightly less 4,500 with two months to go.

With enjoying driving it so much would love to know how you control yourself Although I would imagine time will probably be the answer;)

My "everyday use" Ford, I had Mot'd yesterday. That had done 3,337 miles in the last year!

The Chimaera has done about 14k in the 13 years I have owned it.

Too right I was!!! Even my TVR guy couldn't believe it when I phoned him on about day 4 to book the car in for its oil change and check over, but I had already missed one track day and wasn't going to miss another two which were the following weekend.

Annoyingly I then discovered that the main time taker on an engine change is getting the mapping right, and spent several weeks learning all about the ins, outs and cost of re-mapping a 14 CUX.
But it has run like a dream ever since, so the pain of those few weeks is almost forgotten now.

Doesn't matter how many miles you put on in a year as long as you are enjoying using it. Personally mine does not go out in the wet weather, just not worth the risk here as we don't have the resources to fix up a TVR after any incident like you have in the UK. Drive it when you are going to enjoy it and let that be it.

I made the decision to drive the snot out of mine this year and make the most of it. Reaffirmed that pledge this week after finding the road tax on it had gone up by 25% this year to just under 600 quid. Happily not a hitch so far since getting it back and looking forward to going for another drive tomorrow - 5 day weekend

That's the right attitude. I had been poddling about all weekend in a new (to me) Saab estate, listening for problems and getting used to the car.

Then half an hour ago the Mrs wanted a few bits for this evening's BBQ, and the sun was shining, so off came the TVR roof and off I went to Waitrose.
Came out of Waitrose and had a nice chat with an lady of a certain age, sitting in her MX5 parked, with the roof down, just behind my Chim.
We agreed it was perfect weather for getting our tops down.....amidst much laughter.
