Wedge Chassis Number

At the risk of making myself sound stupid....where is the chassis number on the Wedge chassis?

I've looked high and low on a 1984 350iFHC and a 1989 350i and I can't find it on either.

I've got the number of the plate on the nearside inner wing, but is it anywhere on the chassis itself?

It should be on the driver side suspension tower approx 2" down.

Its there but probably covered by some road skag...

Put there by hand and even paint can cover it up.
First MOT I witnessed after owning it a couple of months: sandpaper, torch and mirror (to find and clean it) were used.....
At least TVR had the idea that it can be read from above, so it is 'upside down' in a way.

Thanks for the replies......I've cleaned off part of the tower with thinners and wire wool but I still can't see a number,

Am I looking in the right place?

your looking in the right place it should be on the vertical face you may have to use sand paper to rub down the survice rust as the numbers are not stamped very deep into the metal

Found it........just under the weld on what in the picture is the lower face (and yes, it's upside down)........many thanks to all, particularly B@man and Barrington, for your help
