Warranty Recommendations
Discussion
I'm shortly going to be taking the plunge in to Aston ownership (V8V). Just wondering if there are any recommendations for third party warranties?
Quentin is quoting me £1600 for a year, labour rate up to £240/hour. A.N.Other is quoting £1500/year, labour up to £200/hour.
Any specific inclusions/exclusions to watch for with this model?

Exciting times.
I assume that you are not buying from a main dealer.
You will probably discover, many on here run without any warranty.
V8Vs are generally fairly reliable. Mine had dealer warranty for one year, and the following two years without warranty. No faults have arisen yet, so I effectively now have £3,000 in the repair fund.
Like Jon I had warranty for first year (purchased from main dealer) which was good to sort out a few minor things but have run without warranty since. Second year has only seen one failed tyre pressure monitoring system sensor so like Jon I am definitely in credit so far. General consensus with V8V is that major mechanical failure is really quite rare and as long as you keep the battery charged up then electrical gremlins are quite rare too. Enjoy your new car!
I had a 58 plate 4.7 V8V from JCT LEEDS dealer warranty for first year and only needed oxygen sensor replaced under warranty then ran it for two more years without any warranty as I felt the cost was too high and was prepared to take the risk myself. In third year i needed another oxygen sensor which cost about £140 at the dealer so was a wise move.
Now got a V12V which I am planning on doing the same. Does depend on the age and mileage though V8 had 8500 miles when I bought it and 21000 when sold.
I have had experience of Quentins Warranty Wise on my wife's Mini. Had a claim for £650 on a new clutch after oil seal failed and contaminated it. Had to pay the full premium off at £400 before they would pay out but still good value as had cover for the remainder of the year after the claim. I would be wary of other warranty companies with their exclusion clauses though. Quentins is regarded as the best I believe.
It seems general consensus is save the fee and put it aside for any work required and chances are you will win in the long run. But it is a risk you need to be happy taking.

CFirst year with warranty as purchased from main dealer, now out of warranty and taking the risk myself.
Even with the AM warranty you will still have to pay for the diagnostics costs, which I think is outrageous. Without the diagnostics they can't fix the fault, therefore this should form part of the claim.
I believe one of the reasons is that the main dealers will run up large labour bills on diagnostic works. However, if they can't trust their own dealers not to abuse the system that's not their customers fault !!
