Leaving job to go travelling advice
Discussion
Hi, i work for a small company in a skilled role, i go travelling for a year on september the 1st and i've not told my employer yet, it's very close where i work with my boss/employer every day. Now my plan was to give him 2 months notice of me leaving to give him time to recruit someone and i will offer to train them to install the products. I want to give him as much notice as i can as he is a good guy and has been pretty good with me so don't want him to feel like i've been an arse with him and not telling him sooner because september will be a really busy period. But at the same time i need to cover my own back because i can't afford for him to sack me which i dont think he would but i cant take that risk.
Would it be possible for him to get rid of me after serving my notice which is 1 month if i tell him sooner?

Y'know there's the potential for a good big long thread on this very topic....
