Hi, looking for some advice on a headset for gaming and what you guys suggest or advise against. I have a set of turtle beach stealth 500p wireless headset but I find them uncomfortable.
I really want to stay wireless and they need to be compatible with ps4.
Have been looking at the steel series h wireless so any feedback appreciated.

Thanks.

I have a steelseries for the xbox, cheaper one (edit: it was a Steelseries Spectrum 7XB, paid £50 for it new).

Pro:
  • Doubles as a wireless headphones for the TV
  • Good stereo sound, deffo improves my FPS playing ability
  • as mentioned, reasonably cheap
  • Very comfortable
  • Good microphone playback
  • Good battery life
Con:
  • The sound, there's always some sort of static (albeit very low volume) which makes it ok for games, less so for TV
  • I'm pretty convinced it works on the 2.4Ghz band. I know this because using WiFi on my phone fks up the signal.
  • In general pretty sensitive to interference
  • The "pop out" when the battery goes dead (not without a warning though hehe) is quite awful
I think it's a bit of a case: you pays your money.
Since I was only going to use it for the Xbox, I didn't want to spend too much and I'm happy what I got for the money, it's only twice the price of the worthless official Xbox headset. Seriously, it's about as rigid as a playstation controller.

Astros?
I got rid of my old turtle beach - never looked back since going astro a few years ago(although mine are older not fully 'wireless' - A40s with wireless mixamp - means I have a wire from headset to a little amp that you can clip to your belt erc) > never had any issues with them. the newer (but still been around a while!)A50s are fully wireless and get great reviews - I'd love to get a pair but my old A40s keep going so no point til they die.

The surround sound on them is fantastic when gaming especially.

They are really comfy - I use mine for gaming and also use them for work aswell for conference calls etc - pretty much live on my head now.. fully over ear with plenty of padding and not tight.

I have since seen a few reviews on the Astros with concern over the build quality, more for the new models like the a50s.

I had a set of Turtle Beach PX4s for the PS4, which weren't quite as wireless as they claimed to be. I had no issues with them for months then plugged them into my phone to see what the sound quality was like. When i plugged them back into the PS4 i never managed to get them to reconnect. Turtle Beach's customer service couldn't solve the issue. So in the interests of making connection as easy as possible i got a set of the official Sony PS4 wireless ones. The sound quality is just as good, they're easier to set up and are genuinely wireless. Wish i bought them in the first place now....

No doubt there are better headsets out there, but for the money they're hard to fault IMO.

I've got the official sony wireless one I bought it for the PS3 a couple of years ago but works well on the PS4 and also my MBP. It has a few different sound settings for films or types of gaming and battery is ok and simple to charge using the console.

Sony official PS4 wireless ones are excellent for the money, very comfortable and surprisingly light, they also work great on the PS3.

ah that's a shame - remember reading good reviews on the A50s a while back. Guess i'll have to hope my 40s stay good then! smile

If it's the ones I'm thinking of, they are good in almost every aspect bit voice. The microphone on them is properly crap, probably because it's in the earpiece without a beam.
