Hi

A colleague of mine has been told that vw want to inspect the timing chain and tensioners at a charge of £300.

Is the chain and tensioners a servicable item and should vw be charging to check an item hat should last the life of the car?

P.s car is a 2011 plate with 30k on it.

No it definitely should not require any kind of routine inspection.

As you say the chain is designed to last the life of the car. You'd only look at if there was a problem such as rattling at startup etc.
