Tuscans near Bath or Bristol ?
Discussion
Is there anyone with a MK1 Tuscan close to Bath or Bristol that wouldn't mind using their car as a template ?
I've got some issues with the service bonnet lining up, and I just want to take some measurements from another Tuscan so that I can see where the alignment issues come from.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers

Allan, what is the problem with the alignment?
If it's the rear 'pop' fasteners/ball catch pinging open, then be aware that the balls and sockets do get 'tired'. Also, check that the main bonnet is NOT so far forward so as to exert pressure on the underside of the service bonnet.
If your happy with the ball catch alignment, then what I've done is to place service bonnet onto ball catches and then do up the M5/M4 (??) capscrews that the bonnet hinges on at the front.

The problem I've got is that the front edge of the service bonnet is not aligned by about 3mm to the front edge of the wings. If it's the rear 'pop' fasteners/ball catch pinging open, then be aware that the balls and sockets do get 'tired'. I've got a little bit of play at the top end that I can adjust, I'm just not sure I've got 3mm !
I know the front has been repaired at some point in the past, and I'm just wanting to do some measuring to see which bit is out the most !!
Have you got any (or can you take) some pictures of the front end mod you have done ? sounds interesting.

Basically, the service bonnet is 'held' in 5 places - viz: the 2 off ball catches on the top of inner wheel arch, the M4/5 capscrews right on the leading edge that go through a 'bushing' (this is grp, maybe with metal sleeve) on the leading edge of the service bonnet, screwing into captive rivnut on body AND the hold down clip.
I have not modded the service bonnet. I have got a hinged main bonnet. My premise is that, IF the back edge of the service bonnet is held in usual place by the ball catches and the clip, then it should be easy to insert cap screws to locate into rivnuts. If this works then I'd say your fine....the 3mm might just be a moulding aberration? If your very concerned, then I think it will be a body shop rectification. Don't forget that 'panel' alignment with TVR was never an exact science.
