I've had my eye on a Nixon 48-20 Chrono All Black for quite a long time, saw it in a shop window and loved it What is the quality like with this brand? Watch is in the link.

I'm not a massive watch person but I've always had a watch and have really fancied buying something nice for a few years now, is there anything else I should consider?

They are considered a fashion brand and not a watch manufacturer by most watch forum type folk so you won't get much love on here. Most would say at the price range you'd be better off going for something from Seiko, Citizen etc or one of the smaller companies like Steinhart etc.

For what it's worth, I had two Nixons before I got in to watches properly and they were built well enough and I never had any issues with them. Take a look on eBay as there is usually lots for sale in the States/Far East at reduced prices.

I was given a Nixon for my 18th birthday and I wore it every day for over 10 years until the bracelet broke. Unfortunately it was a strange design, so I couldn't just fit a replacement strap. Nixon were pretty good about it, offering me a discount on a new watch, but I ended up treating myself to an Oris instead. My brother has had a number of Nixon watches over the years and also rates them

If you like the watch, or are into the boardsports scene then go for it!

I was given one years ago too ... stopped wearing it when one of the springbars was about to go. I changed the battery, the movement must have been all of 7p, 10mm with 20mm spacing to fill the gigantic case. The steel was really soft too, proper radiator magnet.

TLDR : Seiko
