Lidl In-Store Bakery

Has anyone tried the various pastries Lidl do? Absolutely delicious and cheap as you like

I stopped in there for some crisps as I'd forgotten to get some at Waitrose (good for some stuff but stupid prices for others) and got a large pain au chocolat, a chocolate iced donut, and a vanilla danish for something like a quid for the lot - that's just absurd.

I like the crusty rolls when they're fresh: 17p each if I recall.

Cheese twists..... Chocolate cookies too. Oh and the maple & pecan pastries.

Yep, crusty rolls are fantastic, 15p in my local Lilds!

Cheese twists and Belgium buns are good too, don't think much of their doughnuts though.

The bakery goods put in open baskets by supermarkets always look good but I'm usually too wary due to the number of people coughing around them.

The ciabatta loaves are also excellent, especially when fresh n crusty. 75p each and quite large.

Same here, all the supermarkets do it and it REALLY puts me off. Sometimes you see snotty little kids picking the stuff up and poking it before putting it back. I'll only ever buy from these if there is a pile of items from which I can excavate the bottom one which is covered up! Shame because some of the stuff is (potentially) lovely.

Another Lidl bakery fan here. Rolls (including ciabatta) and tiger batons are lovely.

What I don't get is - how come they can they do this and Tesco can't? The Tesco "fresh" bakery products are awful by comparison, despite them having massive ovens etc.

They are good the cheese rolls are good to. One thing I did find strange was the security guard doing the bakery in our local the other day.

Had that here, the wife told a couple of French children off in French for doing it. I was so proud, and strangely aroused

Picked up a couple of ciabatta rolls today of the back off this thread. Very nice, indeed. Even used the tongs, though no one else seemed to bother

I think the quality of the in-store bakery is high. Excellent value for money, but I still go to a real bakery if there is one nearby.

Lidl croissants are the best of any supermarket's and 29p each too.

I think Lidl bakery is excellent, especially from a value for money perspective.

Love the cookies, double choc , and buy a lot of the ciabatta and also cheese topped rolls and the big white bloomer things at weekends. Can't fault them really.
