Hi fellow Le Mans pilgrims,

Does anyone know if the beer stalls around the track accept card? I've been considering taking a euro cash card instead of carrying paper beer tokens, It'll be my third year at Le Mans but I've always paid cash. Thank you biggrin

And even more so next week when Greece defaults on its loans.

There are a few cash points in 'the village' and there's still time to get a Halifax Clarity card - good exchange rate and no fees for foreign cash withdrawals, and if you pre-load or pay it off as soon as you get home little or no interest to pay.

Would that not mean the euro weakens further so you actually get more for your pound? Unless the pound drops with it and then obviously not.

At the moment, the £ is under pressure and depending on what happens (or doesn't happen!) in the election, could fall further against the €

Thanks for your advice, sorted my beer tokens out this evening. Can't wait for the race this year, the signs are it's going to be unbelievable!

However there is always the possibility that the election might throw up a conservative win and then if greece goes belly up then the pound will buy a few more euro's

I live in Guernsey, Channel Islands, we come under the jurisdiction/Crown of the UK but luckily are only associate members of the EU. We do not accept EU residents unless they can pay their way. We cannot vote. That aside I am going on holiday in Greece for two weeks on Sunday smile love it...
Something else that might interest you is that Saturday May 9th is our Liberation Day, the 70th anniversary of our liberation from German occupation - when the UK forgot us...

No I am not bitter, I was not born, but it does give us an extra bank holiday each year smile

Hopefully your pound, and mine, will gain strength though again hopefully not at too much cost to the Greeks, they were very naive on the borrowing front and seemed to get pushed to improve roads and businesses. A good friend who owns a restaurant in Stoupa, southern Pelopenese, actually pays his taxes every year - honestly, and has done since the start of his business. He was talked into accepting EU loans to improve his kitchen etc. and did it without realising the cost, he did not realise it was going to screw up the country, mind you he is probably one of the few in the village that gives proper receipts etc.

Will stop now, I am rambling, just some thoughts... and eventually well of topic... just like alot of conversations at LM... Hey Ho.

I'm holding off any currency purchases until the last second given the election in the UK and the Greek situation. I think by June my Swiss Francs will buy even more holiday money than they do today.

Feck!

Serves me right for believing the opinion polls, pound up against CHF. On the plus side the Euro is still dropping so although the UK trips are more expensive Le Mans is getting even cheaper!

Well first part right now if Greece fails to meet it's deadlines we could see 1.5 to the pound by June
