My mum has a 2006 Polo GTI with only 56K miles on it (no mods used daily to work) and she has just had another OS rear brake caliper replaced after she had NS rear brake caliper replaced a couple of years ago. The last time I replaced a brake caliper was at 97k on my old Mk3 Golf GTI after plenty years driving it hard. So are these polo calipers made of cheese or is my mum getting ripped off from the main dealer (it also had a service and front brushes replaced at a total cost of 650 quid). I've told them many times not to use main dealers for a car this old but they keep taking it back.

seems to be a vw thing.

I had a mk1 Fabia vRS and both rear calipers seized on that about a year apart. Was at about 75 and 90K miles.

In my previous 15 years motoring with Fords and Vauxhalls I've never experienced a seized caliper.

My '05 Polo GT never had a problem with the brakes and I ran that up to 85,000 miles.

I had to replace the console bushes at about 65,000 miles though.

They need to find a decent indy, the price they paid for the service and bushes sounds pricey.
