Going to see an A6 3.0TDi Le Mans tomorrow: what to look for

Pretty self describing title, really. Do you fine people have a checklist I can take with me? Any particular point to check or noise to listen to on the test ride?

If so, my old car... great machines, never had a problem with it, I bought it as an ex demo car with 3000 miles on the clock.

Afraid not. It's at an independent dealer in Nottingham, low miles (38k), grey.

It'll mostly be a motorway car. What sort of mileage did you do in it?

Rear wiper motor works, rear washer jet isn't blocked.

Knocking worn suspension bushes.

EML light doesn't come on, could be the manifold flaps. Mine also had two other faults that caused the EML light to illuminate; engine mount solenoid and two of the six glow plugs were flagging up as faulty. If you can get the faults read them all the better.

Matching tyres.

We had ours for 2 years and 30k miles. Overall average was 34. Could easily get low 40s on a motorway run, even with a car load.

probably too late, but the problems we've had.

Rear wash-wipe leaking - look for pooling water (or evidence of) under the spare wheel.
While you're there, check the spare is the right size. WE got conned and our spare is an 18".
Passenger door motor (unlock) failed.
Car is big and picks up parking bumps. Check for respray. It's also low, my wife has almost pulled the front bumper off ours after sitting it on a kerb - check the underneath of the bumper is straight and that it all lines up.
