Mark, it's usually the SD1 type with the long neck if it's mounted on the front of the left-hand cylinder head. I've also seen a version with the pump mounted low down on the left-hand side but not sure if that was the same pump. As far as I can tell the Montego pump is the same as the SD1 type apart from having a shorter filler neck. I can't see that being an isue as the usual oil level on the SD1 pump is well down the neck anyway.
Your real problem could be in finding a suitable bracket to mount the pump: it stands off the head quite a long way (like the alternator) and the TVR bracket looks to be a right b45t4rdised thing welded up from RSJs and milk-float chassis - the pump isn't actually square to the engine on mine!

Hi Ian, I've just replaced the pump on my 400SE. Do you find that the high pressure hose from the banjo connection at the back of the pump runs very close to one of the chassis members? I can hardly get a piece of card between the hose and the chassis. I am worried that when the engine is running, vibration could wear through the high pressure hose. Is yours like that?
