Ford Mondeo 1.8 Zetec

Hi All,

I'm a complete novice when it comes to car mechanics and I'm in need of some help. I've got an 03 1.8 Zetec Mondeo which over the last 2 weeks has developed a ticking noise from the drivers side of the engine when accelerating through 1500 - 2000 rpm, it also stutters a bit.

I've checked the oil and coolent levels and they are fine. There's no mix of oil and water that I can see so I'm hopeful it's not the Head Gasket.

I've trawled through google but can't get a definitive answer. Please help
