New Watch Purchase Longines Chrono.
Discussion
Hi,I'm looking to buy myself a new watch, a chrono in black/white flavour and have found this,Longines Conquest chronograph.Local jewellers don't stock this so I can't see it in person so has anyone on the forum got one?? Just how big are they on the wrist? (I think its 44mm)and to anyone who owns one how good do you think it is? Or any suggestions for similar type watch? BTW, this watch is around the £1500 mark so no Rolex type money suggestions please.

The design of the crown guards and pushers just sticks out like a sore thumb.
Looks exceedingly awkward and jarring – but if you like it, that's all that matters.
As for what else there is at £1500 – if you're not afraid to buy unseen, and/or pre-owned (so better value for your money), then spend a good bit of time looking at the various brands available on chrono24.com
But for starters, I'd look at Eterna KonTiki Chronograph, and Union Glashutte Belisar Chronograph, as well as Tudor

To be honest the pushers aren't my favourite bit of the watch either. I prefer separate pushers myself. I had originally wanted a Tudor Prince Date/ Tiger watch but they seem to be a little more expensive than what I want to pay (less than £2K). The Union Glashutte mentioned above is very nice but I'm looking something with steel braclet, waterproof, chrono with contrasting face, ie white/black or silver/black. Any other suggestions?

Same seller, so he might be able to swap bracelet for you, or you could ask him if the factory would put the bracelet on the first one, and it should cost the same as the second.
Alternatively, buy the bracelet separately for around €220 or so – but the former is more appealing as it's only £70 more doing it that way.

https://www.chrono24.com/en/mauricelacroix/pontos-... – a bit like the Longines, only this time the pushers are designed to look like crown guards. Lovely looking watch.
https://www.chrono24.com/en/eterna/tangaroa-moonph... – VAT needing added, but a lot of watch for your money. Moonphase, annual calendar. Lovely, even if non-contrasting colour sub-dials.
https://www.chrono24.com/en/girardperregaux/ferrar... – as Tudor above, so VAT needs added on. If you can look past the branding, as it's the brand name behind that which matters most.
Bear in mind, these are brands/models I personally like, which you may also, or not at all – that's fine, since you're the one buying and wearing it.
But hopefully it'll give you some scope as to what else is out there, that you won't easily see on the local High Street, and you can further research those that take your fancy via images and posts on the many other watch forums, as well as reviews on blogs, etc.
Just don't rush into anything, take your time to learn and appreciate what's what and what's important to you, then go in for the kill.
Buy smart, buy right, and you'll be a happy chappy.
