I'm interested in a Rickenbacker.

I'm looking for a 320/325 - the short scale one.

Does anyone know if they released in the burst (not the jet black) and with a bigsby?

ANd do they still make them?? Really want one but would happily pick up an older one (would really prefer a battered one anyways)

I think John Lennon used one, classic.

Yh Lennon used a 320 I think, I have read that thread you linked to.

It seems that they don't have a clear brand range etc.

From what I gather the 320 is a hardtail and 325 trem - now that could be a standard trem or a bigsby. This is my very basic understanding.

That been said it looks like the they don't still make the 320?? I can't see that?

on the Ricki forum its says

"orders for the 1996 were only accepted in 2006, but they're still being made to fill those orders. If you look around, you can find a new one on order but unclaimed."

Also I can't find any 320/325 for sale with a bigsby that isn't black??

Might be easier to a luthier to build to spec!

Have you ever tried a 325? They are pretty cramped if you have big hands, like a normal guitar but with a capo at the third fret IYSWIM.

There is no substitute for getting that nasty aggressive Lennon rhythm sound and I believe John Fogerty used one on many CCR recordings.

I had a hankering for one a while back but they were few and far between and pretty pricey if you managed to find one. I understand that a normal scale Rick just does not sound the same if you need a Lennon tone even with a capo, something to do with the pickup positioning.

To be honest I haven't played a 325 for a long time. I don't think the fret size will be an issue as I often play 3/4 size guitars as they're whats nearest, I also do a fair amount of ukulele work - although I am thinking now that any lead work up and beyond 12 might be like 15 and up which could be a squeeze...

Maybe the 620 would be an option - smaller body, gibson scale length and seemingly more common.

Pitbull guitars do a Ricky kit and they ship internationally so you could have any finish you want but obviously no factory stickers to inflate the price.

Cheers mate, I'll look into that. I've done a kit before. They don't do a 325 but maybe the kit will satisfy my Ricki urge!
