Hey guys

Newbie here so go gentle with me.

I have a 2006 Aston Martin v8 vantage, it had a strange ticking coming on idle when engine is warm.

I have read a lot about loose rockers / oil low / death rattle etc but if anyone in the know, could watch this and help a little I would be very grateful for somewhere to start troubleshooting.

Note the sounds starts around 30 seconds in and is more frequent near the end for those with less patience ;o)

Watch video here: http://youtu.be/gTpcnECIfSo

Any ideas ??

I am a Specially Trained QuickTif Technician [previous topic].

We are suddenly now world renowned experts on exotic cars, so we can easily diagnose your problem.

Take a seat Mate, in our rather cheap looking waiting area, while I look at your video.
We usually find that a new engine solves most of these troubles,

Took me a while to hear it. Then sounds like the indicator is on - I know its not, but had that sort of click / rhythm to it.
Not come accross it before - probably best at a main dealer / recoonised independent.
The other issues - e.g. death rattle are V12 related not V8.

I can't recall what it was but I have some recollection of this being a common thing on earlier cars. Talk to a dealer and they'll likely know or search on here.

I don't think it signalled impending doom (a pulley redesign or just a "they all do that sir").

The AC solenoid clicks loudly and similar noise - but that sounds too often

+ 1, possible there is a fault with a sensor or the solenoid making it click on and off. Try switching off the climate control by just moving the fan speed dial all the way anti-clockwise, and see if it still does it.

Thanks

With this revived topic, I have re-read my original contribution.
Unless you know about the reference to 'previous topic', I am giving the impression of a vivid imagination, after having too many drinks.

My rather poor attempt at humour, followed the claim by Kwik Fit, (topic discussion at the time), that they would provide expert full service facilities, for any Aston Martin vehicle. The consensus conclusion seemed to be more Aston ishment, than Aston Martin.
