At last i have got the Geep running and starting again!! It wasnt charging and i looked pretty daft carrying a charger and the battery into work each day!!
The electrics are absolutely shot. They are midly better now and i can concentrate on the cosmetics.

these are questions that have probably been asked before so i apologise now...

1/ Has anyone had a soft top made by a chandler or other? I am making enquiries in Cornwall. Ideally i am going for soft doors as well unless someone says dont.

2/ Wing mirrors need replacing. Any ideas?

3/ New headlights. Are cibie s the best or is there a cheaper alternative?

4/ Roo bar. Anyone got one or know where to get one??

i've got loads more but i'll save them for another day

thanks all

Gary

Have heard and in one instance have seen the results of a boat chandler made hood. Very good work and is often the way I recommend most folks to go as the hood is usually made to fit the vehicle so less drafty and often the materials used are good quality. A well made set of soft doors are a viable option to the fibreglass units.
Possible mirrors (as used previously on T4) Landrover units. The ones that bolt onto the landy defender. Some slight moulding of filler or fibreglass required to level the shape of the windscreen pillar on the Geep so you dont pull the frame when tightening the fixing bolts. Remember what ever mirrors you use to put good sized spreader plates on the inside of the frame to prevent crazing/ tearing during vehicle use.

Check out the adverts on the Transmissions site to see if anyone has a roo bar going spare.
A reasonable price alternative to Cibie headlights are the rubber cased Wipac units. For "extra" headlight performance the standard wipac units can be swapped to the Quadoptic units which as with any 7" headlight unit fit into the rubber case.

Gary....
There's a guy down west(Paynters Lane End/Redruth) that I visited when I had my previous Jeep about 4 years ago. I've seen his work and it's absolutely brilliant. It wasn't cheap but there again I was thinking of one of those posh hairy type hoods at the time. It would mean leaving your pride and joy with him for a few days as he makes the patterns etc.,
If you give me while I'll try and find his address etc., it'll be in my filing system somewhere!
Cheers

sorry, me again.....
I bought a pair of tractor mirrors from a local farm type store (Cornwall Farmers for example, there must be one somewhere up near you)

Thanks Gerry and Logi

I'll check out both ideas for mirrors.

Anyone got any input on my roo bar question?

Oh and while i'm on the manual says that a mk1 or mk 2 escort heater will go straight in. Is this the case? is there an alternative??

Dont worry i'll go away eventually

thanks again.....desperately trying to get the geep looking nice(r) before summer

hi,

personally i dont like the full roo bar it looks too much on the geep, have you thought of a more simple 'A' bar?
check mine out here - http://img99.exs.cx/img99/5748/image0224fe.jpg

As for headlights i have fitted some 7" components, these are mounted on the front pannel, they have no chrome rings on in the photo above because i have not got around to fitting them yet, but you get the gist.
These are available very easy and not too expencive and even available with a angle eye look in variouse colours!! they are fitted as stock to
MGB etc
Mini
landrover
...and a whole host more!

Re your quest for Roo Bars - try Mike (fellow JOC member-not trader)on 01733 706491
he's got quite a few Jago spares and Bull Bars are amongst them, I got my 8x15's from him and if this was e-bay I'd give him 100% pos. feedback. (he's also got another set of 8x15's with tyres) The only problem is the cost of carriage.
Just for the hell of it I want to sell my bars and have an 'A' bar made up but 'er indoors ain't so keen, and before any of you others say I'm hen pecked I'll have you know I always have the last word in my house (that's 'Yes Dear')
