My First Attempt At Miniature Painting...
Discussion
A few weeks ago I bought Descent: Second Edition, a strategic dungeon crawl boardgame and was stunned at the level of detail in the little figures although they looked less impressive on the board in their plain red, grey or beige colours.
Having spent some time looking at the photos on BoardGame Geek, I was inspired to watch a few 'how to paint' tutorials on YouTube and have a crack myself.
Now I've never painted anything smaller than an Airfix kit and those only in basic enamel paints so I bought a starter set of 16 Vallejo acrylics and a pile of tiny brushes.
It was surprising how easy it was to pick out the tiny details with a few simple tricks like washes and drybrushing. I still have to learn how much to thin the paint down to get the right level of coverage and how to mix the paints to get different colours/shades but I'm quite pleased at my first attempts.
The spiders are about 1" long and the figure is 1.5"-2" tall. Now I need to learn how to take decent photographs, lol.
