MOT time for my wedge
Discussion
My wedge is booked in for it's mot on sat morn at 10.15 provided i can sort out the insurance.
When i had a quote they listed it as a std 350i.
I had fun explaining to them that it was a 350 SE with a 3.9 fitted as std.
I had to explain to them to look on Wickipedia and tell them t was N0 26 of the run of 25.ALL good fun !!
When i also quoted the value as £9K they had a bit of a hissy fit so i'm waiting to hear back from them.
It was with Lancaster by the way and the quote was £147 + £17 for agreed value insurance quotation. This may go up with the information that i gave them.
It's securely locked away in a barn at the moment.
Does anyone have any other companies to contact ?
Cheers
Mike

I use Adrian Flux - £125 for a standard 350i, but with 5000 miles, plus the missus, plus a few points on my licence
plus travel to and from work. It was £15 for agreed value. Plus - no extra for TVR related events such as Millbrook, as long as it's not officially timed or competitive.

..
My concern is that a lot of companies offer "Classic car insurance" until it comes to a claim then they normally shrivel behind red tape..And squirm over value Vs condition..

Hi Mike. Also have a 350SE and had fun explaining the 3.9 and extra bits. Adrian Flux did it for me for £239 FC. 2000miles(only because it was 5 before and never used them). Agreed valuation. No glass cover. Had the stag with Lancaster and can't fault them, but that was just a stag!!!
Hi i got cover with Lancaster at a cost of £150 fully comp, glass cover, agreed value of £9k but i will push this up when i submit the forms and 5000 miles per annum.
I had cover before with lancaster on an old MGF( hang my head in shame !!!) but i had some fun in that car !!!! What i didn't know was that i had earned some no claims on the mgf which can be used on another car.
The reason i was desperate for insurance was that when i found out how much it was worth i crapped myself, it's a lot of money to lose if something happened to it !!
The mot shouldn't be a problem (no comments as to why but i will update you on any issues !!!).
It would be nice then to try and get some miles on it and loosen up the brand new engine, run it in and solve any other problems with it.
The issue then is what do i restore / repair next, the other std 350i wedge, the 2 lotus sunbeams ??, or the reliant ss1's.
Any thoughts ??

Just thought i'd update this thread.
Well got the car to the test station a little but of a jumpy ride. Desperately trying to run it in but did a few wheel spins as the power cut in and out.
Switched it off to wait for the time to test it.
Guess what the barsteward wouldn't start again, turning over great but not firing.
Borrowed some tools and found the fuel pump has packed in !!! Had to ring the outlaw for a lift back (15 miles away !!!)
Had to leave it at the test station as no one has a pump for it and got to wait till monday.
So i'll take a 1/2 day holiday go and fit the new pump the the lads will hopefully test it and then have the fun driving it back.
Bloomin cars !!!

Its good to change the filter as well if its the original or unknown condition...I had a fuel pump pack up on my once...Make sure when you change it that the connections are good and weather sealed as much as possible...

The on going saga continues.
Took half a days holiday went and fitted a new fuel pump.
Turned the key pump working properly and primed the system.
Turn the to start, turns over will it start
will it cluck !!!.
Do some more checks put a node on the injectors no pulse.
Start checking the wiring and the ignition relay is not working, no spares at the garage or local motor factors so race back to the farm (10 miles), find the correct relay. Drive back to the test station 10 miles. 5 seconds to fit the relay turn the key on relay energises press the start button and it roars into life YES !!!
Time for the mot now.
NO it isn't as it now too late to be mot'd as the garage closes in 30 mins.
So the car is still at the garage, still not mot'd so i can't have a play on the way home.
Oh well booked in for the mot tomorrow so will collect it on the way home from work HOPEFULLY !!

Hi mate...Sounds well frustrating...
..People laugh when they see inside my boot..Its like a TVR spares shop..But you never know...
...Actually if i loose another two stone in weight...Chuck everything out of the boot bar the tyre weld and my recovery card i reckon i could get 30 mpg and another 10bhp...
These cars have a habit of getting right under your skin and then teasing you by playing around ...And then the whole world changes shape..Rumbling along there is amongst the straight lines...(Not 100% i know) of the Wedge a big curve..From ear to ear....Wont be long now mate...I reckon it will fly through...;)
