Contemplating purchase of one - like the idea of the big sensor in the cheapest body. Coming from an aged D90 which I'm sure it will blow the socks off, but does it live up to the review website hype? Anyone got one?

Its a great camera, the d610 is cheaper if you dont need the performance.

Contemplate the cost of Full Frame glass too!

I have just purchased a D750, not had chance to use it yet as it was just horrid weather and the last thing I wanted is to have my first pictures taken in a downpour.
Today though its glorious and I still wont have chance as I am off to my friends for a weekend of booze and catching up with other old friends (dont take pictures when you are drunk, you may regret it later lol).

The lenses for the FX range are more expensive and heavier due to them being in the professional range, you can use DX lenses but that sort of defeats the object of having an FX camera, I went from a D80 to the D7100 and it was a great jump in performance, so unless you really want an FX the D7100 or D7200 will probably forfill your needs smile

As Tony says, do consider the lens issue before jumping, especially as you'll 'lose' 33% of the range due to having no crop factor.

Good point about lenses - I've heard great things about the Nikkor 28-300 lens as a sort of 'does everything' - it's FX but adding it to the D750 is starting to feel very expensive.

Good shout on the D610, I'd considered it but have almost been persuaded the D750 offers enough extra... Several of my mates are professional photographers and I always get 'gear envy' around them!

Depends how close the cost is but the d750 makes the d610 obsolete unless it is a lot cheaper. Worth the extra imo.

Unless there's a new killer feature on the D750 that you really need, going for a second hand D700 or D600 and some nice glass would be my suggestion.

FX lenses are heavy because they need more glass. Plenty of consumer grade FX lenses too, its not a 'pro' thing.

I ve just bought a grey import from HDEW cameras, who were great to deal with.
had it 3 weeks and really pleased with it
i had a D7100 before and although not a professional i can tell the improvement in image clarity, though thats probably the superior glass

with saving on a grey model, the 750 was circa 610 uk dealer price

I've upgraded from a D300 and whilst I like it I find altering the settings a bit frustrating sometimes as it doesn't seem as user friendly as the D300. Not a big problem its just how I find it but once set up spot on.

I upgraded from the D90 to the D750 + 28-300mm from Panamoz - essentially got the lens free compared to UK prices. Ordered on Thursday evening and I had the body and lens in my hands on the Monday - pretty speedy service! Quality is outstanding although not had much time to play with it yet. Off to Canada in the Summer so it will get very well used there. My wife had bought me the 14-24mm FX lens a few years ago and I'd been using it on the D90 - so obviously not getting the best out of it. I had been contemplating the D7200 but since my good lens was already an FX it made more sense to buy the D750... at least that was what my man-maths reasoning came up with hehe

Think there's a "Nikon Cashback" deal on now for a '750 if you buy with a lens....

You are correct, there are plenty of consumer grade lenses for the FX range of camera's, but then what is the point in buying a Pro range camera and shoving cheap glass on it? Hence you buy the pro range glass which enables you to get the best out of the camera as possible.
It doesn't mean you shouldn't just buy the Pro range glass as there are some good all round lenses in the consumer range, but I am betting you will find their weaknesses a lot quicker than the Pro range of lenses.

Remember its not a willy waving contest re the glass, just think of it as buying a super car and running it on unleaded, it will do it ok but you will feel more benefit on super unleaded smile
