My Cayman is needing two rear tyres ( MOT advisory ) P-Zero's fitted all round which I've been very happy with, the fonts are original but are now six years old...so I'am thinking about a full brand new set.

I've priced up tyres at Tyreleader, Openo etc but today I was in Costco and priced up a set of Michelin PS2's which were on offer at £100 off which brought them very close to the online retailer prices.

As I said I like the P-Zero's but the PS2's must be a good tyre too yes...can you guys offer some opinions pro's and con's of each brand.

I look forward to your comments....thanks.

The PS2 are superior to the P-Zero, you won't be disappointed.

If you haven't got any warranty issues to consider then definitely go with the Michelin Pilot Supersports, otherwise go for the Michelin PS2.

OK, why are they better and in what way.

I went to a local tyre depot today to priced up the tyres, bullst detector at the ready...it went off really quick, I was told " I woudn't fit Michelins they are too soft and are prone to cracking " and no it wasn't Kwik Fit for a change.

The problem is - as I keep bleating on a about - is that there are no reasonably authoritive independent reviews of n rated tyres on Porsches (it would have too narrow an appeal for most mags/online alternatives to fund)

FWIW - and I don't think a lot, P zeros are regarded by some as the worst of the N options (and I'm not keen on mine) noisy and lacking in both grip and feel it is said. There are on-line reviews of non-n tyres of the similar nominal spec which would seem to back this up. Goodyear Eagles seem to get more support - and I've just bought some to try.

Well the N-rated bit is just a Porsche tested and approved type rating for certain tyres, the pick of the bunch tends to be the Michelin PS2 and I've had them on both of my Caymans now and aside from getting non n-rated Michelin Super Sports.

I had the P-zeros on my Boxster and found them to be harder and noisy on the road and didn't offer as much grip as other tyres I'd had in that car (continental and Michelin) - the Michelin wear ok I think but that's not generally my first concern, but they are very good in the wet, nice feel on the front of the car (I've found the Goodyear feel a bit vague for steering feel) and they aren't too noisy.

FWIW I had p-zeros on my Jag XJR and when I replaced them with continentals the difference was night and day. I wouldn't personally buy the Pirelli again, and not Bridgstone RE002 either I've found the performance drop off very quick with wear and get harder with age more so than others.

Just my tuppence

Thanks for that very informative...also I've been doing a bit of reading here and on Planet 9 and the general consensus is out of warranty fit Supersports and under warranty fit PS2's.

Interesting. My two main concerns were noise and steering feel - so the Eagles may not be the best choice (bought with wheels - which was what I was really after - so not a disaster, but I'll have to do back to backs in the next couple of weeks and see what I think. )
