I luckily have a couple of Breitling watches. I fancy exchanging both in for a date just 2 with a rhodium diamond dot dial. The questions are could anyone recommend a friendly retailer who would be willing to consider such a deal and the other is around discount? What kind of discount would I expect assuming I can get one. I'm based in Yorkshire but I'm happy to travel etc on recommendations.

I would appreciate any help.

I've dealt with Blowers in the past and been very happy with them. They're based in Kingston upon Hull and sell a lot of Breitling and Rolex.

Id talk to Dom Hackett too. Discounted new Datejusts aren't as difficult as sports models, but Id be surprised if you weren't pleasantly surprised.

Always give watchfinder a call, I've done a couple of good deals with them over the years with PXing for an item they have in stock.

You'd get 20% just strolling into a Goldsmiths.

No you wouldn't.

I would expect much more than a gesture from all of the high street chains

What's the retail just now for one? Around 7? New financial year so not much pressure on targets I'd look at a few %, trade hard with the watches you're looking to get rid of is your best bet.

Current retail on an SS DJ2 with gold bezel is £6100, I bought mine brand new from blowers for £5250 a few months ago, the two tone ones are a few hundred more.

Then you don't know what you're talking about.

Or are bad at negotiating...

Do you have proof of you buying a SS rolex this year with 20% off from Goldsmiths?

We hear it all the time on here, people claiming huge discounts on UK watches. Then nothing is ever proven.

I'm waiting for someone getting a "James Cameron" at cost price because they've bought a few air kings in the past..

Correct. I got the same nonsense when i was buying my dj 2. High street chains, no discount on stainless steel models. I even asked those people to buy me one at discount as I wanted to get one for my father, shockingly, no one stepped up. Gold / two tone, no issue. SS, forget it. But of course, there's always those "in the know"

About 2 months ago I went into Fraser Hart to look at a DJ2. I asked the guy and he didn't even check with manager and offered £200 off a £4800 watch.

I went in about 2 weeks ago and they weren't having any of it, they said their policy changed and they don't do discounts on Steel Rolex watches. Now if I pulled out a stack of cash or said I would buy on the day maybe they'd have taken a little off. At the time they weren't budging on price at all.

And of course, that £200 was only 20% of the 20& discount that some gobsh*tes are claiming to be easily attainable...

I bought a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date - 115234 with fluted bezel in April and got 10% off, this was however in Amsterdam.

Mappin & Webb also offered me 0% finance over 2 years on a green face/dial submariner, discount buy another name.
