Hi I have also posted this on the griff forum but you guys seem to be more active. My pre serpent 500 just died on the M2 today. It has fuel. It will turn over and fire but immediately dies. It has a spark at the coil and the injectors are firing. The fuel pump buzzes normally when the ignition is switched. The immobiliser has been deactivated so it is not that. The inertia switch was not triggered. All fuses look ok. All earths are fine and the ECU connections look ok.

Any ideas?

Did you check for a spark on all the plugs?

Possibly an amp or coil partial failure not able generate sustained sparks?

Fuel pressure regulator problem?

Air Flow Meter failure? To try just unplug it and see if it runs, if it does it'll run rich but will get you home.

ah new one not quite yet on order. I think I have a larger non standard AFM. bosch ref 0 280 218 010 .. the internal dimensions is 76mm. Is this standard or is it a special. I don't want to get the wrong one as it will bugger up the set up. How do it work out what it is and where do it get one from? ebay sell lots at circa £46

Jes, you have the same AFM as I do and I have had 3 failures in 12 months since upgrading as part of my supercharger installation. They are approx. 140 quid from motor factors. How long have you had yours fitted? It would seem as there may be a problem with manufacture or just a bad batch.

Just to add the AFM in question is (I believe) as fitted to V8 P38 Range Rover, it may be worth giving Mark Adams (Tornado Systems) a call as he uses a lot of these AFMs.

Richard that is interesting. The AFM is about 2 1/2 years old. It came, I think from either Mark Adams or ACT - I really can't remember which. Mark Adams set the car up on the rolling road at TVR Power. That was in Feb 2012 and it has worked fine since then until now. I have just ordered a new one (with the Bosch code 0 280 218 010 from a trader on eBay for £46 from Germany. It will be interesting to see if it works ok and if it does I will post details for others to use..

Jes, glad my posts were useful, good luck with the replacement. I'd certainly be interested in your findings, if it proves to be ok I might just buy a couple myself as the warranty on mine has just about run out.
