Ok im looking at a new set of 18" tyres.. 225-35-18 + 255-35-18.
What you folk running on your cars, and why...
Ide love to fit some Yokohama AS01,s but they aint cheap. But I guess you get what you pay for.
The Bridgestone 001,s are on my shopping list aswell..
The car ISNT going on track, but will get some spirited road driving...
Oh and what are the XL, [extra load] tyres like on our "lighter" cars.?
Don't want any Lingalongs etc,,,,
Cheers. Dave W.

OK, Dave,
Seeing that no-one has replied, I'll give my threepenny bit's worth.

I've run Proxes since the BT2s became unavailable.
Superb for an all round tyre
AND
Unbelievably quiet for such a low-profile, fibreglass car.
Gets my vote every time
BUT
I did here that these are good and, from my motorcycling experiences, I really rate Michelin.

Best to do a search on here coz there are a zillion threads.

Those Michelin Pilot Super Sports are utterly brilliant on the car I have them on. They eclipse everything I've used before and I always buy high end tyres. The only reason I don't have them on my Cerbera is because I have RL7s and PSS sizes start from 18".

Thanks fellas.
Been searching the interweb for all sorts over the weekend.
Hankook Ventus V12 evo,s seem ok,,,for a budget performance tyre.
Goodyear F1 Assy 1,s + 2,s
Bridgestone S001,s
And Yoko AS01,s
Are all available in the correct 225-35-18 and 255-35-18..

Looked at the Mich pilot SS,s but there not available in a 35-18 profile,, pity...

There seems to be a lot of choice if your after a cheap "unknown" brand, but it starts to get limited in the better quality sector....

Ive had the Toyo T1r,s on a car before and found them ok ish...
The best tyres ive ever had were the Goodyear,F1 GSD3,s. GREAT progressive tyre, why did they ever stopped making them..???

I realy dont want to fit the XL stiffer sidewall tyres as the car isnt a heavy thing...
Most "performance" cars these days are full of servo,s and electrical gubbins making them heavy, needing the XL sidewalls...
Not so in the TVR,s...
The search continues.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you checked Uniroyal for their Rainsport 3 tyre. I have them on Tamy and they are excellent on the road, in the wet and not too shabby on trackdays either.

I've got pilot super sports on the front 40 profile ( some people have rubbing issues but mine seem fine) and yoko 08 on the rear, I think you want need to up the profile on the rear if your going 255 as its a percentage of the width

I'm in the market for some new tyres, I quite like my Proxes T1Rs but you can't get a 255/35/18 any more. They do one in the R1R but they don't do a 35 series for the front, which means I'll have to go up to 40 series

Has anyone tried R1Rs? I was thinking 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear. It means the fronts will 24mm taller so may cause some rubbing issues? Thoughts?
