o rings...I hope this isn't a daft question!

New to the world of bouncy bikes and hydraulic brakes, I've bough myself a Commencal Meta but it had a squidgy rear brake (Formula RX)...so I've taken the hose out and found one of the two o rings on the hose has a small nick in it. I've googled and ebayed but can't seem to find anywhere that sells spare o rings?

Take the old o-ring into your friendly local industrial seal supplier and he'll almost certainly be able to sell you a new one. It'll be a standard size.

Google "seal kit" for your particular brakes.

It's an expensive way of getting an O Ring worth pennies but you might as well service the whole caliper now.

Unless the entry point for the hose shows signs of leaking fluid, the o-ring is working regardless of the nick.

I have Formula brakes and find they tend to need a little adjustment through the life of the pad. Have a little twiddle with the allen key near the brake lever and you should get some feel back.

Bleeding didn't help mine.

My brother's older model XTR brakes are hopeless. I've bled my own Tektro and Avids until they have a perfect feel, but his XTRs are consistently spongy. There's no air left in them, of that I am 100% sure.

you can hear and see the fluid escaping on a firm pull...managed to set the front up perfectly so reasonably happy it is the o-ring

Thank you that is a useful link...I removed the o-ring last night and I'm hoping to get time to drop into my local hydraulic supplier, if not I shall order them tonight
