Cayenne 92A Xenon headlight upgrade

Hi, I've just purchased some complete xenon headlight units for my cayenne (which had halogens from factory).
I tried installing them and I get an error message and the lights flicker. Seem to remember that the xenons draw less power than halogens, but wasn't sure if this requires coding or maybe just a relay/diode between the car's headlight plug and the socket on the headlight itself ?
