I have just placed my order :-).
Used carwow and received an offer of £34k for a Black Edition in midnight blue - 21% saving.
Didn't bother with any other options, my 911 is naughty enough :-).
Dealer did try and push lots of extras and insurances though.
Have to wait till September but will be on the 65 plate.

Black Edition has Bang & Olufsen, front and rear parking sensors, 19's, some exterior styling items and auto wipers, lights etc.
Car as standard has navigation and most importantly, the flat bottomed steering wheel!
Not sure what else a family wagon needs?
My MK5 GTI doesn't have navigation or an iphone/ipod connector so to me this is state of the art :-). My 911 hasn't even got an auto dimming rear view mirror. I have to pull down a lever :-)

The S4 doesn't come with front and rear sensors for some bizarre reason. You'll need to spec parking sys plus for £325Car as standard has navigation and most importantly, the flat bottomed steering wheel!

Well that is interesting! On the audi configurator it isn't standard, on the new brochure it is. Great news if it is at its just saved me 325! Nice one! I will double check with my dealer in the morning.
I hadn't realised nav was standard. That does make the Black Edition very good out the box.
I would still have ticked some options budget allowing, but absolute essentials for a family car I suppose not.
Taking the above into account that is a fantastic price, 20% off is quite something (even considering the new shape A4 may be revealed around your due date). Enough to make me check via carwow before I buy used again.

Worth considering that B8 A4 production ceases in the next few months to make way for the B9 model (RS production has now stopped already in the last month)
Unlike the RS though, which generally comes later in the model cycle, the S4 B9 will be launched imminently, so it might be worth hanging on a few months to see if you can get the next S4 instead of buying a brand new car now for it to become updated with a brand new model in 6 months

I toyed with the idea of holding on, but the new A4 looks so generically audi in any case, that the current deals on the S4 and the knowledge that it won't have any teething issues (like the new TT) made it a very appealing prospect. I'd also read a lot about the 'dated' interior of the current gen a4 but in all honesty, it's still a far nicer place to be than most of the competition and isn't a million miles off my current a6 (c7). If you're adamant about getting an existing one, then maybe another plan of attack would be to hang on a bit longer and wait for the run out deals to start hitting the table
This is, of course, assuming that the B9 S4 will be launched at the same time as the regular A4's as per previous generations
