Noble holds annual Owners' Day

Drive your Noble round Rockingham's international circuit

Noble Automotive is holding its second national owners’ day at Rockingham Motor Speedway on Sunday 20 March 2005.

The aim of this exclusively Noble event is to bring together new and existing owners at a prestigious venue, with world-class facilities. We are keen to see owners who simply want to come along and chat to us about their cars, even if they never take to the track. But for those who do…

Drive your Noble on Rockingham’s international circuit

Throughout the day, Noble is providing have access to Rockingham’s International Circuit (as used by the BTCCs) for those who wish to experience the performance of their cars in a safe, legal environment. An open pit-lane will be operated during the course of the event, with a maximum of 40 cars allowed on the track at any one time (a maximum 60 track passes will be issued on a first come, first served basis).

The circuit will be fully marshalled, with full FIA-approved medical facilities available. There will also be trained instructors at hand to provide one-to-one tuition for those drivers who want to exploit their full potential on the track. If you require this service, please let Noble know on the booking form available on its Web site (link below).

Fast rides with Autocar’s Chris Harris

Sitting at the wheel of Noble's M400 demonstrator will be Autocar columnist and racer, Chris Harris, who will be available to give fast rides all day. Chris started his career on the road test desk of Autocar and has raced everything from Caterhams to Porsches over the last few years. His smoothness and control at high speed is exceptional, as is his ability to describe how the car is handling as it reaches its limits.

Rides with Chris are free, but you will need to book a timed slot for your ride when you register. There will be limited tickets, which will be issued on a first come, first served basis.

In the paddock

  • Lee Noble and his team will be present to chat to you and answer any questions you might have about Noble.
  • New examples of both the M12 GTO-3R and the M400 will be on display, as well as a guest appearance by the very first car sold by Noble Automotive – an M10 model.
  • Noble will also make available its entire range of merchandise, including clothing, accessories, posters and promotional literature.
  • For those considering buying a car, Noble will be inviting sales representatives from its dealer network to attend the event.

Itinerary

  • 8.00-9.00am: Reception, registration and briefing in Rockingham’s Skyline Suite, where coffee, tea and bacon butties will be served. Note: all track drivers must arrive by 8.30am
  • 9.00-9.30am: ‘Ducks and Drakes’ familiarisation session on circuit
  • 9.30am: Circuit open to registered drivers
  • 12.30-1.30pm: Circuit closed for lunch. Hot food available at Trackside Canteen, which will be open throughout the day
  • 1.30-5.00pm: Circuit open to registered drivers
  • 5.30pm: Event finishes

Booking

Anyone attending, even if you’re not driving on the circuit, must complete the online booking form before Friday 18 March.

This is a Noble-only event, so you will need to make special arrangements with Simon Hucknall (simon.hucknall@noblecars.com) if you wish to bring any car other than a Noble into the paddock.

Ted,

"40 cars allowed on the track at one time" - I hope you meant a maxiumum of 40 cars for the day otherwise it'll be like the M25 out there?! :-)

I think I heard it was a 60 limit to cars going on track, max 40 at any one time.

Nod - it's using the international circuit so there is plenty of space for 40 cars.

If it's anything like normal, there might be a small amount of waiting at the start and just after lunch when everyone wants to go out, but given there will be lots to talk about and see, I'd imagine there will be quite a lot less than 40 cars out there most of the time.

Rob,

This is actually my press release, and yes, a maximum 40 cars on the track at any time is correct.

Thanks Simon and, WOW, that sounds like a lot of cars at once - even on a long track! I'm thinking about bunching but, as you're safety concious lot, I'll assume all elements of safety have been considered! :-)

Owen, suggest that you peruse your skiing trip cancellation clause mate! I realise that this may also involve a marriage cancellation but hey, Noble's are for life too...!!! :-) LOL

International circuit is 3,943 mtrs. 40 cars = 98.35 metres each. So with 40 cars you've got a 100 meter slot to go round in.

How long does it take to cover 98.35 metres at 60 mph?

Google calc...

(98.35 meters) / (60 mph) = 3.66671141 seconds

Given they let 60 out at Bedford, that seems to be about the correct ratio... Bedford GT is 3.6 miles AFAIK, so 3.6 miles = 5793 meters, (5 793 / 3 943) * 40 = 58 cars.

I've never had to wait, or felt there was too many cars out at once at Bedford, so 40 on the International seems to work (and I'm sure they've done that many times?)

Crikey if someone breaks too hard we could have one of those M25 moments. Could be expensive, or is this a cunning plan by the factory.

In my experience, the number of cars on track at any given time will settle to around 20-30 max shortly after we start.

Dear AMG Merc,
Advantage of being a "Sir"; being able to pull rank.

Luckily its not needed today because (reassuring for the others reading his comment above) the event is not fully booked. The factory are still taking bookings.

Just to make it absolutely crystal clear: we are still taking bookings for track places at our owners' day on March 20th. I will post a message on this forum, as well as on our website and the owners' club forum, when we cannot take any more.

Simon, are you perhaps suggesting that my obviously myrthful response to Sir Paul Cundy has caused people to think otherwise?!
